URGENT MEDICAL ⋆
BUDDY
We got a phone call about a Jack Russell Terrier who had been surrendered to the high kill shelter with a broken leg. The leg had been broken for several weeks by what we think was a hit and run accident.
The owners decided it was best for them to just dump him off and let that be the end of his life.
Not!
We sprung into action and arranged transport and got him to the vet.
Will you join with us and donate today to meet his medical needs and help him to come out a winner?
UPDATES - BUDDY
UPDATE - Sunday morning, April 13, 11:44am:
Buddy is still sedated and is on IV antibiotics.
He will be undergoing Soft Tissue Surgery tomorrow, Monday, April 14, which has just raised his estimate $600.00 more which we do not have.
Once they get in there to remove the dead tissue they will do a culture to see what bacteria is in his wound to be able to treat it with the proper antibiotics.
Once he is released, he will then need to follow-up either with Auburn or primary doctor which will incur more cost.
Will you partner with us by donating today to help Buddy come out the winner?
UPDATE - Sunday morning, April 13, 12:32am:
Myself and Buddy's Foster are home but Buddy is not.
He had to stay at Auburn University where they will collect samples to culture and give him the needed IV antibiotics, they will clean the wound because it is infected, collect labs and run bloodwork and later today he will undergo sedation to cut off the necrotic tissue. The doctor provided the results of the examination and the recommended plan of care and confirmed that it was the right decision to immediately take him to Auburn and not wait until Monday.
The reason for the opening was wound dehiscence.
The high end of the estimate (picture below), $1,500.00, had to be paid prior to leaving. That payment wiped us out.
Will you help us help Buddy get all the care he needs by donating today?
UPDATE - Saturday night, April 12, 10:51pm:
We have been at Auburn University Emergency and Critical Care Services for just over an hour. Buddy has just gone back to triage.
His incision area has opened and I did not feel comfortable "waiting" until Monday.
If sepsis sets in…no way…not on my watch…not under my care and so, here we are at Auburn.
It is $200.00 to walk in. No idea what this bill will be but we could desperately use donations towards his care.
Will you donate today to help Buddy overcome this obstacle?
UPDATE - Wednesday evening, April 9:
He has been tucked in nicely at his medical foster where Spencer is also. Spencer wants so badly to comfort and console him but Buddy just is not ready yet.
He needs and will be getting a new cone for comfort.
He will be eating Royal Canin Digestive Care (Small) and Royal Canin Digestive Care wet food.
He is currently on pain meds and antibiotics and is resting comfortably.
It is going to be a long road for Buddy but we are thankful to have been able to save this boys life.
Will you donate today and help us provide for these needs and others as we seek to help Buddy recover and rehabilitate?
UPDATE - Tuesday evening, April 8:
Good News: Amputation was successful and he was also neutered.
Bad News: This poor little guy is heartworm positive.
With your donation today, together we can provide Buddy the treatments that he needs. Will you donate now for Buddy?
UPDATE - Tuesday afternoon, April 8:
Almost immediately upon arrival the doctor called and said it is beyond saving. It was just dangling so amputation was necessary.
The cost of the amputation is $1,000.00.
Through everything this little guy has endured, he has still managed to be kind to his handlers at the vet and wag his little tail.
Will you come alongside us and donate today so that together we can help Buddy recover from this awful accident?

One of the best ways you can make a difference…Adopt
Your choice to adopt saves lives and provides second chances.
By adopting, you are saving at least two lives-the dog you adopt and the dog who is rescued-because you made it possible for the space to be available.
